A holistic testing system for all EV and EVSE ac and dc charging interfaces

By Michelle Froese | January 18, 2024

Keysight Technologies’ Scienlab Charging Discovery System Series (CDS) is a breakthrough solution for holistic testing of all ac and dc charging interfaces of electric vehicles (EVs) and electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE).

Thanks to its modular and innovative design, it’s possible to configure the CDS to specific needs or requirements. The CDS makes it possible to replace multiple real EV/EVSEs with one test solution to ensure an optimal price-performance ratio.

Keysight’s CDS covers all test areas as an all-in-one system, providing:

  • Independent, reproducible testing of any EV and EVSE charging interface through real-time emulation of all electrical interfaces (including communication signals and energy transfer) of counterparts
  • Automated verification of product performance and prototypes (including fault conditions) long before market release
  • Real-time person-in-the-middle mode for easy analysis of interoperability issues between EVs and EVSE
  • Integration into custom hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) solutions through open and fully documented remote interface (LAN)

Features

  • Covers automated functional, conformance, interoperability, and quality tests for R&D, end-of-line (EOL) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) applications
  • Perform time-synchronous measurement and decode communication and power signals
  • Ensure scalability and future-proof hardware design, according to CharIN e.V. CCS Test System
  • Conforms to CE, UL, and KC-Mark, certified by CSA Group
  • Includes extensive test case library for automated conformance testing of CCS, CHAdeMO and GB/T standard
