Accuenergy Inc., a provider of dc energy measurement and monitoring solutions, announced the launch of the AcuDC 260 series, a new line of revenue-grade dc power meters designed to support the growing requirements of public and commercial EV charging infrastructure and related high-voltage dc systems.
As EV charging power levels increase and regulatory scrutiny around billing accuracy continues to tighten, reliable and compliant dc energy measurement has become a core requirement for charger manufacturers and charge point operators.
The AcuDC 260 series is designed to address these requirements by combining revenue-grade accuracy, secure metrology, and region-specific regulatory compliance in a single platform.
The series includes two primary models: the AcuDC-262 and the AcuDC-261.
The AcuDC-262 is a UL-certified model intended for deployment in North America and other international markets where MID compliance is not currently required. It provides a UL-certified alternative with equivalent measurement performance and system integration capabilities. This allows charger manufacturers to standardize on a common dc metering architecture across multiple regions while meeting local safety and regulatory requirements.
The AcuDC-261 is certified to the European Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) and approved by PTB in accordance with Eichrecht, enabling legally compliant energy billing for public dc fast charging installations in the European Union. This version is engineered specifically for public dc fast charging environments where legally enforceable billing is required. Certification to MID and PTB (Eichrecht) ensures compliance with European regulatory frameworks governing revenue-grade metering.
To support transparent and accurate billing, the meter implements tamper-evident metrology, digitally signed OCMF transaction records, and cable loss compensation, ensuring energy is billed based on what is delivered to the vehicle rather than measured upstream. These capabilities are intended to simplify regulatory compliance for charger OEMs and charging network operators while reducing deployment risk.
Both models are designed for integration into dc fast chargers, battery-buffered charging systems, and other EV charging architectures operating at elevated voltage and current levels.
